Being Equipped to Equip Others

Tag-teaming Academics
During the past 2 years of campus ministry, I've been taking part-time courses towards an MDiv on the side. This helps me to be better equipped to equip students for their lives in Christ on campus.

These courses have helped me deepen my understanding of the bible, God's word, and deepen my love for God in Christ.

In this photo, I'm taking a break from writing an assignment on a critique of the Qur'an. This summer I'm taking a course on World Religions. Studying the histories and philosophies of the world's religions has helped me understand where certain students are coming from, how to relate with students of differing religious backgrounds, and teach the followers of Christ how to bridge religions to the Gospel.

James, studying across from me, was a leader at Sunago this past year and is taking 6 courses this summer to finish his degree so that he can be a missionary/ESL teacher in Japan in August.
He comes to the library almost every day of the week from 7:30AM till ~9PM or so.
He's such an encouragement in my life and especially to my discipline towards studying.

Here's just a little tid-bit from my assignment.
Regarding syntax, Gerd R. Puin, a scholar skilled in Arabic, was entrusted by Yemen with the analysis of the earliest copies of the Qur’an (705-715 AD)  found in a Yemeni mosque. He comments: “The Qur’an claims for itself that it is ‘mubeen,’ or clear, but if you look at it, you will notice that every fifth sentence or so simply doesn’t make sense. Many Muslims will tell you otherwise, of course, but the fact is that a fifth of the Qur’anic text is just incomprehensible. This is what has caused the traditional anxiety regarding translation. If the Qur’an is not comprehensible, if it can’t even be understood in Arabic, then it’s not translatable into any language”
